PageMaker was used on both Windows and Apple computers, but most updates and new version were released for Mac before Windows. The program allows users to edit images, text, spreadsheets, charts and formatting within a document to resemble various styles of publishing like magazines, newspapers and books in a professional and creative manner. PageMaker development was stopped by Adobe in 2001, encouraging users to switch to InDesign. PMD files are used by Adobe PageMaker 7.0 to create simple desktop publishing documents such as newsletters, mailing labels, envelopes, and catalogues.
